Junk Shopping.

We spent the weekend in Arkadelphia visiting Jonathan's family. Jonathan's parents have been cleaning out their house and simplifying their living area. This is a hoarders dream! They are having a huge yard sale and I got first pick! The yard sale is next weekend and you don't want to miss it if you are local.

I had a blast digging through their "junk". I came home with some great furniture that I will share tomorrow and a few knick knacks. I'm trying to simplify my house as well but someone's trash IS another's treasure! And they have some great stuff!

Lucy had a blast going through her daddy's old toys.
Who are these characters? Don't worry it's just Bapaw and Lucy.
Lucy also enjoyed going on a tractor ride with her Bapaw! These two sure are crazy about each other. ( or just crazy, I haven't decided)
Nothing like playing in 2000 degree heat.
This is my little buddy.
Asher also enjoyed going through his daddy's old toys!
I love this little face.

I'll show my treasure's tomorrow after I put them in their place.

Friday.

TGIF. I love Fridays. Today we went over to the farm to eat Tamale's with my sister and parents. My mom has a hook up with a Tamale lady. We joked that she is our "dealer".

Lucy enjoyed playing outside on Emma's bicycle.
My dad is in town this weekend too!
Me and Laura. Laura has made it to 33 weeks. We are excited about meeting the twins but hopefully they will stay in for three more weeks.
Lucy got her first manicure and pedicure today. I was doing my toes and she thought it looked fun. I wonder what daddy will think!

We have a fun weekend planned with family!

Stay at Home Mom

Being a stay at home mom is the equivalent to going to work everyday and having your coworker delete everything that you finished the day before.
Our day went like this. I cleaned. Lucy messed up. I cleaned. Lucy messed up. I made the bed.
Lucy unmade it. X50. All in all it was a pretty good day. :)

Mom Award.

Tonight I should get an award.

We have been battling bedtime with Lucy. I usually lay with Lucy and read to her before leaving her room at night. After I leave, she visits our room at least 2-3 times that night. Each time she has a new excuse. "I have to go to the bathroom", "I'm thirsty" and my personal favorite "There is a monster in my room".

I guess I had enough tonight because tonight when I was leaving her room Lucy said, "mommy, there is a monster in my room." Now usually I will tell her there is no such thing as monsters, monsters aren't real, and I check her closet and I check under the bed so she knows there is no monster.

Well tonight was different. Lucy said, "mommy there is a monster in my room." (I know she knows there is no monster. This is a ploy to stay up later.) I turned to her and said, "Yes, Yes there is and if you get out of bed it's going to get you."

GUESS WHO HAS NOT BEEN OUT OF HER BED?

Like I said before I deserve an award. It may be a crap mom award but it's mine.

After I left Lucy and the monster in her room Jonathan looked at me and said, "You just crossed all sorts of lines." I forgot the baby monitor was on!

5 Things

1. I made the best cookies today. These are my go to cookies when I need to bring something somewhere. There quick, easy and delicious.
I made strawberry and lemon. Lemon is my favorite.
Lemon Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
1 egg
1 lemon cake box
8 oz of cool whip
Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Once all ingredients are mixed together spoon out a spoonful and roll in ball. Dip ball into powdered sugar. Bake for 10 min at 350.

2. I made a lasagna for our food pantry lite bite's dinner at the church today. I also made one for us for dinner tonight. It is a southern living recipe and it is delicious and well.
Lasagna Recipe

1 lb mild Italian Sausage
1 (15 oz) container part-skim ricotta
1/4 cup refrigerated ready-made pesto
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 (26 oz) jars pasta sauce
9 no-boil lasagna noodles
4 cups (16 oz) shredded Italian three-cheese blend OR mozzarella

Directions:
Remove and discard casings from sausage. Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring until meat crumbles and is no longer pink, drain. Stir together ricotta cheese, pesto, and egg. Spread half of 1 jar pasta sauce evenly in a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking dish. Layer with 3 lasagna noodles (noodles should not touch each other or sides of dish), half of ricotta mixture, half of sausage, 1 cup cheese, and remaining half of 1 jar pasta sauce. Repeat layers using 3 lasagna noodles, remaining ricotta mixture, remaining sausage, 1 cup cheese. Top with remaining 3 noodles and second jar of pasta sauce, covering noodles completely. Sprinkle evenly
with remaining 2 cups cheese.

Bake at 350 for 40 minutes covered with tin foil. Remove tin foil and bake for an additional 10-15 or until cheese melts.

3. Lucy got some new pj pants aren't they cute? She looks like a big girl! I don't like it but I can't keep her in zip-ups her whole life!

4. This may change your life. It has changed mine. I learned today that I can use my mean green carpet cleaner to clean my tile. It also cleans grout. I don't think you are suppose to use it this way but it works and my floors haven't been this clean since we moved in. I hate tile. I hate our tile. It is white. It shows dirt. At least twice a year I get down and scrub it with a toothbrush and clorox. I have a steam mop. I have a swiffer. The carpet cleaner gets it so clean!

5. I'm still addicted to pinterest. I think it is the greatest thing ever!
You can find me at:http://pinterest.com/mbost/

That's it.

Summer

Summer is my favorite season of the year. All year I am impatiently waiting for summer! Now that it is the end of July I'm ready for fall and all the things that come with it. I'm ready for football season, tailgating, chili, cooler weather, new tv season, and fall colors. (I'm also anxiously awaiting my niece and nephew's arrival)

I'm also looking forward to getting back on our regular school year schedule.
  • Lucy's starts preschool this year. She will go for 4 hours twice a week. Just a little longer than mothers morning out.
  • Thursday Bible Study! I miss getting together with these women.
  • Tuesday night dinners at the church
  • Tuesday night bible study- I haven't decided if I am doing this this year.
I'm adding a couple of new things this year as well.
  • Lucy dance class.
  • Mops- a friend and I are going to start doing this. I think it will be fun. I wanted to do it before but I didn't want to go by myself.
I'm ready!

Tulsa Birthday.

Saturday we loaded up the car, picked up our best friend Emma Grace and headed to Tulsa to the zoo. I love a zoo. I couldn't wait to bring the girls to the zoo. They have been to a zoo before but they are at the age to remember things.

We got to Tulsa around noon. Did you know it's hot in July in Oklahoma?

The girls enjoyed their popcorn on the way up!
The girls had fun. It was hot though!

We cooled down with some icecream.
We only lasted two hours in Tulsa. I have to remember that the zoo is a fall/spring activity not a middle of July activity!

Today we played with the girls birthday presents! Bicycles!

I thought this was sweet picture of my sweet husband aka Uncle Pookie and Taylor. They sure do Love each other!

This week in Pictures.

VBS is over. I'm worn out. We had a final count of 185 kids total. 70 were 4 and 5 year old. I'm tired.

Here are some pictures from our week.

Sunday Lucy wore her new birthday outfit that Cookie and Bapaw got her to church. She did not wear the ruby red slippers to church only after we got home.
While I was teaching vbs I ran into a girl who looked familiar. Turns out she was my little miss in the 2000 Miss BHS contest I participated in. Nothing like a 4 year old turned 15 to make you feel old.
Wednesday was my birthday. Delta was in town and we met for lunch. We were pretending we were ladies who lunch. Which is actually my dream job. :) j/k I would be ginormous if I lunched everyday!
Lucy and I at Braums for icecream.
Wednesday night Jonathan and Lucy took me out to a new restraunt in town called Tusk and Trotter. It was really delicious and local.
Lucy and Snow playing with play-doh.
We ended tonight with a jam session with Lucy's new instrument set from Baby Asher and family.

Shake it up! VBS.

I am exhausted. This week is Vacation Bible School at our church. We are doing Shake it Up Cafe! I am teaching the 4 and 5 year olds. On Monday we had 60 4 and 5 year olds with three teachers and three youth helpers. We broke off into groups of 20. I'm just going to say that Monday was terrible. Kids don't learn well in large groups with non-teacher teachers! Today we still had our group of 20 but we had 4 teachers and 1 youth helper. It was much better. I have decided to dominate tomorrow. Get ready kids!

Here are some pictures of my group.

Lucy gets to play in the nursery since she isn't old enough to go to vbs.

40 of the 60 kids.

I suckered my mom into helping me! Haha.
This is me and Kathy helping the kids make a chef hat.
