Henry's Birth Story

Tuesday May 8 I had my 38 week appointment at 9:00 AM. I was 37 weeks 4 days pregnant. I had my blood pressure taken, 120/70 and my weight checked +22 pounds. I was brought back to an exam room. I reminded the nurse that my Dr. said he would check me again. They don't usually check repeat c-section patients because it doesn't really matter. A week ago I told my Dr. that I felt he was taking Christmas away since he wasn't checking me. I like to know what is going on or if anything is going on!

My Dr. came in the room at 9:30. We made small talk. I told him what I was feeling, some pelvic pain and I told him the baby felt lower because I could now breathe! We talked about my c-section date that was scheduled for May 17 at 12. I told him I was excited. Our family was all coming in to town and everyone was excited! He measured my stomach and it measured 37 weeks. He checked the the baby's heart rate and it was 144.

Next came the exam. I get nervous during exams and I just started talking. I started to tell him the story of Lucy  asking how the baby was going to come out. Before I could finish I looked at his face and I knew something was up. He looked at me and said, You are 2 CM, 80% effaced and the baby is at a -2 station. WHAT?!?

I laughed and said, well that doesn't mean much I walked around for 2 weeks with Lucy at 3 cm and never went into labor. He said we would do a non stress test to see if I was contracting. I sat in the NST room for 30 minutes texting my mom, jonathan's mom, and my sisters. I kept thinking I should have eaten breakfast I am starving! Then I started to dig for my water bottle and I had left it in the car. So, there I sat for 30 minutes by myself starving and dying of thirst! The nurse came in and took my results and said she would be back.

10 minutes later She came in and said my Dr. wanted to see me again. I went back into an exam room got ready for another exam. He came in and said, well you are contracting every 2-3 minutes. I am going to check you and if anything has changed we're going to have this baby today! I said, "Oh like tonight". He said,"No, like right away." I said, "You mean when my husband gets here". He said, "WHERE IS YOUR HUSBAND"? OH CRAP! Jonathan was at work in Bentonville. My Dr. said he would have enough time to get here.

So he checked me. I could see the look on his face. He said," You are 3 CM and 90% effaced"!

To be continued.... (not to be dramatic but this is getting long!)
