End of Week Review

Our Week In Review

We started our week off with a Halloween package from Aunt Laura and Family. Lucy's favorite surprise was the Home Depot apron! She told me that Uncle Ryan was the best for finding her an favorite apron!

Wednesday, I woke up to Lucy throwing up. Thursday, brother had the bug.

In the package Lucy received some mustaches. Apparently they were french mustaches because every time she would put one on she would speak in a french accent, mainly she would say, "bonjour."

Playing mustaches with my baby.

Henry was not happy about having his picture taken.

Henry felt better on Friday and we had fun eating pizza with our favorite neighbor.
Lucy said this was her favorite pose.

I'm excited to link up again with the girls of 5 on Friday! I think this is such a fun link party and it is giving me a blog routine! I just love routine... This is my third time to participate  Last week I participated but forgot to link up! So if you want to see some of my thrifting finds and other random things please click on the HERE!

I gave my explanation on why I quit Facebook yesterday. To read that post Click here!

The stomach bug has hit our house and has gotten to all of us except Jonathan. Hopefully, he avoids it. But on a happy note, I tried a new homemade chicken noodle soup recipe and it was delicious! Thank you Simply Scratch for the recipe

Dillard's had a huge sale last week. I bought out the men's department for Jonathan. They were having an additional 40% off an already 65% off merchandise. I bought some pajamas for me too! The man salesman checking me out said, "Do you want these pajamas too?" I guess I felt the need not only to justify the pajamas to myself but to the salesman too. My response, "Yes, I think I need new pajamas because I am still wearing my nursing pajamas and my baby is 16 months old and I actually quit nursing him 7 months ago, so..." Sometimes I catch myself giving too much information and sometimes I don't.

Lucy is a sleep walker. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned that online before. I'm hoping she outgrows it sooner than later. Sometimes it's funny to see her come down the stairs and wonder around and sometimes it's not funny and more scary.

The Texas State Fair starts Saturday. I'm hoping to go this year. I'm also making a must see Dallas-North Texas Fall Bucket List. I'll let you know what's on it after I start it!

Why I Quit Facebook.

Put on some shoes, I may step on some toes.

|5 reasons|
-Why I Quit Facebook-

-insecurity-
apparently I'm a 13 year old girl because Facebook made me as insecure as a junior higher. I would post a cute picture of my kids, and let's face it-They are cute!, and I wouldn't get the "likes" and "comment's" that I thought it deserved. I based my worth on the comments from people I use to know. I would take a picture with my camera and think, "Oh wow, I look skinny, I'm going to put that on Facebook." I left out the real life to make myself look better.

-discontentment-
I never had the right clothes, purse  neighborhood, husband, vacation or dinner. Everything I was doing was different than the "norm". I wanted what these other people had and what I had just wasn't good enough.

In reality, it's just stuff and I could use a lot less of it! I have a husband who adores me and I think he is pretty perfect too, besides throwing his socks on the floor and leaving monster drinks around the house, we have a great marriage and we love spending time together. As a family, we are perfect. I have the two funniest kids in the land and wouldn't trade them for anything. And they love me and at the end of the day that is all I need. I have a great house that I can't keep clean, a car with four wheels, a collection of purses, awesome family vacations and dinner to eat.

-negativity-
If I had to hear someone say UGH one more time I was going to die. ( I might be a bit dramatic) Nobody wants to hear it.

-relationships-
I value people. I value my family and friends. I call my sisters and bff a couple of times a week. Facebook makes it easy to devalue relationships. It strips it down to the surface layer.  Just like an onion I know that the deeper I peel the sweeter it can be, that is the same in friendships. Facebook friends are not "real life friends". I want friends that I can pick up the phone and share a story or two with and them not judge me- through the good, the bad and the ugly- I know they will be there, usually laughing all the way.

{I don't know if that onion analogy is true but let's assume that it is}

-need for mystery-
I don't want everyone all up in my business.... I don't want to be all up in your business...

Let's be mysterious people!

You could argue that I write everything down on a blog for everyone to see and you would be right... I'm trying to figure that out.

-role model-
I need to be a role model for my kids. If I'm only showing the world the untrue best side of me and I'm getting my self worth from how many likes I'm getting, they are going to recognize that and they might do the same. I don't want to see Lucy on facebook saying oh no, I only got three likes and two friend requests... nobody likes me....

I want to teach my kids about real relationships and that you have to put time into them. Real friendships aren't instant or a click away.

Conversations should be had in person or at least over the phone. If you have more than yes or no to say to someone don't text them. (i'm anti-text message conversations too, they are lazy, pick up your phone)

I don't want my kids to think other people are more important than them. When I was on Facebook I needed to see what was happening, I would read Facebook during the middle of night breastfeeding sessions when I should have been memorizing my infant's face ( I know, I know, breastfeeding is so boring, what else are you to do..), and when we were playing outside I would be checking my phone to see what was happening on the old FB or even better taking a picture of my kids to put on the FB to show everyone how wonderful of a mom I was.  I don't want my kids to think they are less important than anything in my life.

-closing-
Will I get back on, I don't know. I'm sure at some point my kids will want to join and I will be their first friend...
I'm a lot happier now that I'm not comparing myself to others and not hearing the word UGH. Seriously, nobody says that in real life don't say it online...

Last week I mentioned Thrifting and this week I'll share some of my finds...

Jacket (emphasis) and White Pants (vigoss $2, they were half off) - Frisco Resale,  Frisco, Tx
Shirt- The Good Steward Consignment, Frisco, Tx

I've been pricing patio sets online and was waiting for them to go on sale at the end of the season. We've wanted a conversation set to go on our back patio. I couldn't not buy this when I ran across it at the resale shop, this thing can be arranged 15 different ways. (maybe only 6 but you get the point- it's awesome!)

Soccer Star

It's our first year of soccer and Lucy loves it! She loves being on a team, she loves yelling Wildflowers, and basically she likes talking to the other girls. But here's the thing... She's good, I'm talking really good! She has a natural instinct to play defense and she is super fast. I know I'm mom but others have said the same thing. :)

Proud Parent's! I love being a soccer mom!

Five on Friday

This is my first time to do a Five on Friday. I'm excited to link up with the girls who put this on!

1. Blueberry Coffee.
It's everything I have ever wanted coffee to be! I'm serious. I jump up at the first beep of my alarm to make my coffee. I haven't been able to find it in stores but I ordered it here!

2. Facebook
I quit Facebook! I'm going to do a post about all the reason why I think Facebook was bad for me later in the week. But it feels so freeing not to be sucked in anymore!
This is how much I like facebook, I didn't even care to find a complete image of it's logo. .

                                                                      3. Denim Jacket
Sheaffer, from Pinterest Told Me To, has been talking about this "Must Have" Denim Jacket. I kept writing her off because 1. It's hot in Texas 2. How can a jean jacket be so cool? Well I saw it in person and I am obsessed! I'm trying to decide which wash I want. I'm leaning towards the two in the middle.

4. Thrifting
I've been thrifting and I love it! I've found some incredible things. More posts on this later. The Ladies of Frisco give away some really AWESOME things!

5. Routine
I'm so happy that School has started. When School starts my whole world makes sense! I think it is the routine. I love a routine. My kids thrive on a routine. We have an activity everyday except Thursday.

Soccer Season

I'm officially a soccer mom! Lucy started soccer last week! Her first practice was Friday and her first game was on Saturday. What we lack in skill we make up in enthusiasm! Since the game all she has wanted to do is go kick the ball. She was truly a natural.

Lucy is #4.
