Hippie Living: Healthy Dishes

When I was a kid we had to do the dishes after dinner every night. Unless we cooked. So, my older sister, Laura, had the great idea that she would cook often so she wouldn't have to do the dishes. I vividly remember dinner being finished and my mom would look at Emily and I and say, "Alright girls, clean-up time." As soon as these words were uttered Emily would get up and run to the bathroom and yell I have to go to the potty. As she would hide out until the dishes were conveniently done I would get to washing dishes. 

One night I decided that I would cook dinner so Laura could do the dishes. I made a 7 course meal on purpose. We used a salad plate, a main plate, a dessert plate, 7 pieces of silverware, three different types of glasses and I served dinner on the table so include those dishes. It was extreme. Even for me. 

At the end of dinner my mom looked at me and said, "Alright Mary, time to do the dishes..." "But I cooked?" "Right, but you used every dish and pot in the house and you get to clean it up." This is when I learned to cuss... (not really, I'm just dramatic)

Since then I have learned to cook in one pot. Serve from that one pot. And use the minimal amount of plates possible. Also, if a recipe calls for more than 5 ingredients I know for a fact that I will not make it. 

Summer Caprese  Salad
This doesn't even require a pot.

Tomatoes
Mozzarella Cheese
Basil
Balsamic Vinaigrette Glaze (your family and friends will think you are fancy)

I serve this as a side with dinner. I eat the leftovers on top of a salad with chicken. Easy and delicious.

God is bigger than this and Jesus Can fix-it.
