Friday Favorites: Weekly Happenings: Catchup, Standard Poodles, Sports Camp, Swim Lessons, Grandparent Detoxing...

I haven't blogged in a week. I consolidated Weekend Review, Weekly Happenings and Friday Favorites. I hit 11 favorites: Our new Parti- Standard Poodle, giving in crisis', the dermatologist and my new sunscreen, volunteering for the church/community summer lunch program, Round 11 chemo week, La Croix water, Surprising the kids with a puppy,  Swim Lessons, Losing a tooth, Sports camp and Henry's sweet smile.

{one} Meet Wesley Bost! Two weeks ago from this Saturday we picked up this little love bug and brought him home to be part of our family! We are all smitten with him! Wesley is a Parti Standard Poodle. Parti just means he is black and white not that he is a party-animal!

If you remember after our Autumn died I said we were done with dogs... and then I saw this face.

and that white tip on his tail!

The rest is history.  Actually, Lucy said, "mom, we need to get a dog!" "No, I don't want a dog. They are a lot of work and I don't want to clean up all the hair. If we got a dog, it can't shed.", I said. SO then we looked at puppy pictures, which led us to a breeder, who was just in Tyler, Texas, who could meet us just an hour from our house, with this puppy that once I saw his face I knew was mine!

Basically, If you give a mouse a cookie...

I mean... Look at that face.
He loved interacting with Fancy-pants my sisters 16 year old Pomeranian.
The Saturday we sent the kids to grandparent camp is the same day we picked up Wesley. I'm glad we had a week to start housebreaking without distractions. And he's obsessed with me. He follows me around like a little puppy dog.

{two} Remember when I wrote 8 ways to help your friend in crisis.
Happy mail during the tough days is such a pick-me up! Thank you Bunco Group! This means the world to me and you mean the world to Cookie. (Jonathan's mom's bunco group.

{three} Dermatologist. I'm not a fan of going to the Dr. unless I'm really sick. The past year has taught me that I really have to take care of myself and health is not a guarantee. You could go to bed one night and wake up with brain cancer the next day.

I had my 6 month checkup and everything looks good. I also talked to her about the importance of sunscreen... I walked in with tan-lines, so maybe she talked to me about the importance of sunscreen! I left with a bottle of this. It is tinted and I really just slather this on my face, apply a little mascara, bronzer and lipstick and I'm done with my summer makeup!

{four} Our church has partnered with Frisco Family Services and Little Elm's summer lunch programs. While the kids were in Arkansas I joined my mom in the kitchen and we made over 300 sandwiches. My favorite part was at the end when we all prayed over the sandwiches. God orchestrated that and he knew exactly who he was going to feed through our easy 45 minutes of volunteer work. It really was a simple, amazing experience. If I could bring my kids with me I'd be making lunches every chance!

But since I can't take the kids, we have been collecting supplies to donate. I'm also hosting a girls event next week and to gain entrance into the party you have to bring an item to donate! There will be a winner for the most items! This is something easy that anyone can do! (nudge, Texas friends) Think about your next pool party, cookout, fellowship group, or random Tuesday taking up a collection of supplies.

{five} Last week was Jonathan's 11th round of chemo. He only has 13 more to go! We are almost half way through. Our church is so thoughtful and has been supplying meals during the treatment week. My friend, Bonnie, dropped off panera and even threw in my favorite thing.. A BROWNIE! I love some chocolate but since I try to keep junk food out of the house I rarely have one!

{six} I'm obsessed with La Croix sparkling water. I'm going to teach you how to enjoy this because it is an acquired taste. 1. Buy a case of La Croix. 2. Drink one can. You will be so mad that you bought a case because it will taste terrible. 3. Continue drinking case throughout next 4-5 days just for the principle of you bought it, you use it. 4. You will start to crave them! 5. You will write me a thank you note for all these tips!

{seven} Surprising the kids. Remember how I said we got Wesley when the kids went to Arkansas? Well, they came back a week later and were super surprised to see that they owned a dog!

Lucy still looks at him this way.

{eight} Swim lessons are this week. Henry has been taking backyard swim lessons from a lady who goes to our church and who even taught Lucy swim 3 years ago. Day 1 and 2, I thought he would never learn to swim and then by Thursday the kid was almost swimming the length of the pool. By the end of next week he will be competing in the olympic trials. See you in Rio!

{nine} Dentist. So, I noticed two weeks ago that one of Henry's front teeth was discolored. I was hoping it was dirty so we brushed it. Then J had his seizure and the kids went to Arkansas and I forgot about it. When he came back from Arkansas it looked worst. We made an appointment and our dentist said the tooth had trauma and was slowly dying. Dentist: Do you know what he did, or hit it on? Me: what hasn't he hit it on? He's a boy who loves to jump off of everything!
Since the tooth was sensitive and causing Henry pain, we decided to pull it.

Now my giant 4 year old looks like he should be going into kindergarten. It's aged him! But he is so cute with that silly grin.

{ten} Stonebriar Sports Camp.  Sports camp has been an amazing experience for Lucy. They have learned 12 different sports, and that when they play a sport they aren't performing for themselves but instead using the talents that God has given them to glorify HIM.

Henry told me, "If I wear this, people are going to call me plain!" Some of these pictures are old from facebook and instagram. I'm not friends with people I don't know on facebook but I do have a Trust without borders facebook page to get the latest updates and my private instagram is open to anyone to see. Incase you need more of us!

{Bonus} I don't like to end on odd numbers. Henry and I hit up the Mckinney square while visiting Aunt Emily last week. We shared a pizza and gelato!

Guys, that face! It slays me! He gets away with A LOT when he flashes that smile!

Alright, I'm caught up! Thanks for visiting today!

God is bigger than this and Jesus can fix-it.
