Friday Favorites: MRI, Ice-Cream, Hogs, Netflix, Amazon...

It's Friday! This week has worn me out! I'm ready to relax and enjoy my family this weekend. And by relax, I mean go to 2 volleyball, 1 soccer and 1 t-ball game... Other than sitting at the ball field we plan on Family Movie Night and ordering pizza.

Back to Friday Favorites, Here are a few of my favorite things!

{one} MRI
Jonathan had another great MRI on Tuesday. The Dr. confirmed this as well as the specialist who read the profusion results. We were Downtown from 8-2 in the afternoon, Tuesday completely wiped me out and I haven't recovered yet... (Mary, it's Friday... get over it... )

{two} Ice Cream
We decided to get an after school treat on Monday. The kids wanted McDonald's ice cream so we swung through the golden arches and I was kind of excited about a dipped cone!

The man handed me this....

And Sometimes I accidently say things that are meant to just be thought... but out of my mouth came, "Well, that is the saddest thing I've ever seen..." to which he replied, "Have a Great Day." He didn't care that he handed me the saddest dipped cone in the history of McDonald's and honestly I didn't either... It ate just the same and was delicious!

{three} Painting

We ran by Manna's yesterday and Henry did a little painting... I love to watch him be creative. Behind all those little brushstrokes is a little story told by the sweetest boy I know.

{four} Thrifting and Mentors

Last year I went to a mentor meeting at our church. The meeting was meant to connect younger girls with more experienced ladies. I'm so happy I went because God connected me with my dear friend Carla. She is a wonderful, God fearing and outgoing lady.  We went to lunch on Wednesday and then to a thrift store. I found this little crock! I plan for it to hold my cooking utensils.

{five} Razorback Fan

After losing on Saturday the Bost house was a little gloomy. Even Lucy was sad and disappointed. She cried, y'all! She told me that she told an AM fan in her class that the Hogs were going to beat her team!

And they didn't.

Before I tell you the rest of the story please remember that Jonathan and I are both Arkansas Alumni and we even married on Old Main Lawn. We love the U of A. But being a hog fan comes with sec heartbreak. After seeing them break my daughter's heart we had this conversation-

Me: Lucy, you are young! You don't have to commit to a team right now. Mommy and Daddy chose this lifestyle. We chose to have our hearts broken every year during football season. The Hogs are always going to let you down, they are always going to run it down the middle... It's tradition... Sure, they may be ranked and get your hopes high but it won't last... it never does.

Mommy and Daddy would understand if you decided to pick another team. Manna and G-daddy both attended the University of Alabama and their team never loses and we would be okay if you chose to be an Alabama fan. There would be less heartbreak. It's a good school. We would support you...

Lucy: Mom, I just can't do it. I'm a razorback fan...

{six} Netflix and Chill
Old People version of Netflix and Chill= PJs and popcorn in the bed watching Longmire.

A new season just came out and we have been binge watching some Longmire!

{seven} Amazon order

This week on Mary's Amazon order...

Dog food and Elta eye moisturizer.

What do you think the fullfillment people were thinking when they rounded up these items: What are they doing to that dog!?

Wesley has to eat and Mama needed her eye-cream!

Remember this before and after...
I can't go back to having bags and wearing base...

I finally ran out of my tinted moirsturizer that I've been using instead of foundation so it's next on my amazon order...

{eight} Welcome

If you are coming from Kelly's Korner- Welcome! Thank you, Kelly, for featuring me and my family on your Friday Fellowship!

That's it. That's all I know...

Secret Keeper: Modesty and Inner Beauty

This weekend Lucy and I attended the Secret Keeper Girl Live Party! It was a fun show/concert/message about inner beauty, modesty, and purity. I felt like they really covered inner beauty and modesty well! (They promise not to mention SEX)

Why and What did I love about this?
I loved that they reinforced that our girls are a MASTERPIECE made by GOD! He is the creator of all things and everything that he creates has been thoughtfully and wonderfully made. He took the time to create all of their details.

I'm going to be honest 2nd grade is when it starts... What starts? Comparison, Boys, Mean Girls...

That's hard as a mom to watch your beautiful, confident daughter start to worry about worldly things and know exactly how she feels! I feel like I didn't start this stage of worry until middle school.

I also learned that I can easily embarrass my daughter. There might have been music and dancing at this event too and I took advantage of the fact that I can embarrass her and did...

Inner Beauty. Vickie Courtney starts off with this conversation in her book 5 Conversations to have with your daughter. You're beautiful and Mama loves you isn't enough... The world is against moms and our daughters, they can make a fortune off our daughter's insecurities (and ours).  We need to start early (like yesterday) building our daughter's confidence in their Identity in Christ.

They are good enough for Him and He is all that matters.

Look, even the prettiest girls have been made unrealistic, unattainably beautiful. (While I was looking at these before and after photoshop pictures I was so happy to see what these beautiful ladies looked like)

Modesty: Another great tool for our Mom toolbox.
They have a great 10 part modesty test on the Secret Keeper Girl website.

The other morning before church I asked Lucy to go get ready and to remember the rules we learned about at the show. She did a great job getting ready and then she came downstairs and saw that I was dressed and putting on makeup. I had on skinny jeans, gold shoes, a white tank with a sheer white and gold long-sleeved shirt on. Lucy looked me up and down and said, "Mom, I don't want to hurt your feelings but you aren't dressed modestly...your shirt is see-through and I can see your white tank-top...." I wanted to say Lilly doesn't make immodest clothes but instead, I said, "you know what, if this makes you uncomfortable I'm going to change." And I did. I wanted to set the groundwork for conversation and the example that you don't question someone's opinion, you just change.

(Was I dressed immodestly? no... but I'm Lucy's example in this world.)

I just wanted to let moms know about this great resource. I didn't know anything about it until a friend told my sister a couple of weeks ago... But I'm so glad I have this to arm against the tween years and lay the foundation for the teen and beyond years. Mommin' is hard!

If the Secret Keeper Girl is coming to your city I would highly recommend going!

Also, I ordered a few of their books. In case you are interested, they are listed below.

Weekend Review

I miss the weekends where we didn't have anything planned! With two kids in three total sports I'm beat! Thankfully we didn't have a volleyball game this week but we will pay for it with 2 next week! (2 volleyball games, 1 tball and 1 soccer...)

Henry was ready for school on Friday! He is enjoying his 3 day schedule and I'm thankful he likes it and is learning a lot.

 Lucy ready for school!

Friday I had a list of things to get completed and one was Costco. I love my day of bulk! I had to stock up on drinks and kids lunch supplies. While I was there I saw this giant bear and texted Sister and told her to get ready for these come Christmas time! Wouldn't it be hilarious if I bought 4 of these for each of her kids!

Also, in case you are in need... Costco has vanilla beans right now. I think they are seasonal.. Emily, I know you were looking for these and I meant to text you...

Saturday we had soccer pictures and then a soccer game! We had to get to the field by 7:20 in the morning! The girls won their 3rd game! (6-0)
Lucy's been on the same team for 7 seasons! We still have 3 of the original players!

After soccer we had a tball game.

Our day of games knocked Henry out!

My friend Julie and I suprised the girls with a mom and daughter date night to see the Secret Keeper Girls Live! It was a lot of fun and so informative. I'm going to cover this event and amazing program tomorrow!

Thanks Sister and Colette for telling us about this!

Friday Favorites: Weekly Happening Favorites, New News, 2 favorites.

Today I'm linking up with some of my favorite blogs to share my Friday Favorites! I forgot to post yesterday so I will also share some weekly happenings!

{one} Wesley
This has been the week of Wesley.

Wesley whispering sweet nothings into Lucy's ear.

After eating a steak, some cookies, and a chocolate cupcake, we had to take sweet Wesley to the vet.

Vet verdict- Tummy Ache... I could have told him that and charged him $200...

 {two} Cravings.
Do you ever just need some chocolate? Henry and I did! We ran to the nearest grocery store and hit up the ice cream and m&m's aisles!

While we were at market street (I don't usually shop at Market street because it is so expensive...), I smelt the best candle! After falling in love with the scent I decided to buy one, the price on the bottom was $65! I quickly put it back and decided I could think of 65 different ways I'd rather spend $65.

{three} Sweet Henry
Why talk about one kid and not the other? Lucy is always at school... Henry and Clark watching sisters play volleyball.

Henry's new hairdo!

Henry, Wesley and the Sprinklers.

Lucy and Henry working on homework together.

 t-ball practice!

 {four} New method of drinking
I've started to drink all liquids out of a straw. I chipped my front tooth from banging my mug into my front row...  I just had my tooth fixed so I am trying to be careful with my mouth... (weird)

{five} The redneck yeti
This just made me laugh! Especially, the monogram!

{six} Thredup.
Someone take away my paypal account. Just kidding, I had a credit built up where I had been returning things and this week I found a couple of things that I liked. The great thing about thredup is you have 14 days to return things if they don't fit, you hate them, etc. Returns are easy too.

Here are some of my newest finds.
I love a tunic.

Here are some of my past keepers.

These AG jeans were $25 and feel like I'm wearing Pajamas!!
Most of these clothes are new with tags but others are in excellent condition without tags. If you signup for thredup Here, you can get $10 credit and it's 40% off of your first purchase!

 {seven} Past Blog post
I linked up earlier in the week and shared my favorite blog posts from the past. You can see that post here!

 {eight} New News

There's a new mom blog launching October 16 and I'm going to be a contributor! I'm excited about this opportunity! I'll be sharing parenting, marriage, mommin stories, advice, crafts, recipes, and whatever else moms need, want or do! I'm looking forward to building community with local moms!
