Emily

 I am linking up to Kelly's Korner for her Show Us your Singles Day! If you are single or know some singles you should hope over and take a look but only after you have read this post about Aunt Emily.

Meet Emily! Emily is my little baby sister. She is 28 years old and 5'11".
(so not really little or a baby)

Emily is a graduate of the Tisch Film school of NYU. She is a smart cookie. She also has a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in History. Currently Emily works for ESPN in the Baseball division. She travels to different stadiums to put on the Sunday Night Baseball program. This is terrific for her because she loves to travel and she loves sports.

Emily recently made a huge life change by moving from the Big Apple to a little town North of Dallas. Originally it was to help us fight cancer for a few months but turned into a permanent stay!

Emily's new house! She's a home owner. She recently bought a house off the small town square. Don't worry you don't need to be handy because this little old house has been totally redone!

Emily loves the outdoors: camping, shooting, canoeing. She recently took up rock climbing.
(NYU shirt)
When she is not outdoors, she enjoys being indoors: movies, plays, bible study, exercise classes, eating. Maybe you like to eat.. Maybe y'all could eat together....

She looks good in a hat...

 See, She has a good hat head.

Recently we played game on who you would invite over to a dinner party and her guest list was full of inventors, Presidents, Old Royalty (Queen Elizabeth the 1st) and Adele. The rule was you couldn't say Jesus because he has a standing invite... Did I mention she loves Jesus? (Adele should be on the standing invite list too)
And she loves to laugh. And she is good at cards. And she is a good cook.

Now, I'm going to leave this up to Jesus and you. If you want to talk to Emily you can email her. If you have someone you think is perfect for Emily, you can have them email Emily. Or you can leave a comment with your email and I will email you her email... (which is below)

Mom Confessions...

Things I do that I shouldn't admit to...

1. One time Lucy was scared of Monsters under her bed and after putting her in bed 20 times I told her if she got out of bed again that monster was going to get her... She didn't get out again.

2. Speaking of sleep... I put a baby proof door handle on the inside of Henry's door so that he would quit visiting us during the night... If you ask him what happens at night he will say, " Mom traps me in my room at night".

3. Did y'all know that Chick-fil-a is closed sometimes during the week? Say Wednesday at lunch time.. closed.. weird, i know...

4. Henry knows on Saturday to not wake me up in the morning but he should wake up his sister instead. She knows how to work the tv...

5. I couldn't get fastpasses to see Anna and Elsa in Disney world so I'm going to tell Lucy that they are sick so I don't have to wait in a two hour line to see some teenagers dressed up...

6. Sometimes I hide from my kids in my closet. If they yell for me I don't answer. Jonathan caught me doing it the other morning and thought it was genius.

7. We run in the afternoon to get our exercise... or to get really tired.

8. We play "Mary Poppins" and I snap and the kids have to run put something away...

9. My kids love to show me their work they do at school. I rave about it but when they aren't looking it goes straight to the trash. Unless it has a hand print I don't keep it.

10. I make my kids have quiet time because Mama needs to shut her eyes just for a minute.

Weekend Review

When I decided to make Monday weekend review day I didn't take into account that we are the most boring people ever...

Friday at the gym I told my friends we look like we are in a shoe commercial... Look at those colors!

 This has been my meal of choice this week. I'm obsessed with eggs.. morning, noon and night, I've been eating eggs.

 The Cobles came for a visit on Friday. We enjoyed pizza together and then they took my kids for the weekend to avoid chemo weekend. I'm thankful for family to help out when I need them.

While the kids were away I decided to put away the mounds of laundry, which led to pulling out rhealana clothes, which led to reorganizing closets...

Everyone has been talking about this konmari book, the art of tidying up and most people love it. I don't have time to read and I promised I wouldn't add another book to my bookshelf so I watched a YouTube video (FOUND HERE) and I'm pretty much a folding professional. Every drawer in our house is perfectly folded.

(I also watched a YouTube on card shuffling tricks, so next time I'm playing cards with friends I'm going to look like a shuffling master...)

 I picked the kids up yesterday and they were not happy that I was taking them away from their cousins... Lucy told me that was so rude to cut into her playing time and Henry told me that He just got there... They were both very tired and we loved having them at home.

 Sometimes I get a package in the mail and I think, "Oh no, what did you order, Mary?" because sometimes I can't remember... This time a sweet someone sent me this CD. Thank you anonymous amazon user, It's going in my car today!

Thank you for praying for Jonathan this past week. Today is the hardest day of recovery. (Usually Sunday but we didn't start until Tuesday, making today the hardest) It's when he feels nauseated the most. We've been fighting the pain since 3 this morning. If you could continue praying for a quick recovery 1. for him, nausea is not fun. 2. our vacation starts in 5 days.

Friday Favorites

{one}
We are gearing up for Disney! Look at these sweet shirts my friend, Elizabeth,  made for the kids. She also made family shirts!! You can check out her work HERE at her etsy shop. She is quite talented!

{two}
Speaking of friends. We got a knock at the door Wednesday night and in walked all Jonathan's friends. "Hey guys, we just came by to pray for y'all..." The sweetest, right? We also discussed our lottery winning strategies... too bad none of us won.

I made them take a picture.
 This is the football pose...

{three}
A couple of my workout friends and I are encouraging each other to get off the Christmas weight. So, I've been sticking to my diet, drinking my shakes, and exercising. It's funny that when you follow the rules how pounds come off quickly. (It's all in the diet)

Breakfast

{four}
Walmart grocery.
Alright, I know I've talked about it before but I love this. Friday's I put in my order and schedule to pick it up on Saturday. I pull up, they load it and I drive away... It's the best. Arkadelphia friends, I heard you just got the pickup added to your store. If you click HERE you can get $10 off your first purchase! Frisco has it as well.

{five}

Bible study started back at church and I'm so excited to start a new study with my group. I need the accountability and there is nothing better than having like-minded, christ focused/centered, grace-filled friends to grow in the word with.

{six}
The end of chemo week. Jonathan has two more days of chemo for this round and then round #6 is over! Only 18 more to go... 1/4 of the way complete... I'm thankful that this round is almost over. It has been rough on Jonathan, to the point that he is taking today off from work. I'm thankful he gets Monday off to add to his recovery.

Hippi Living: Foaming Hand Soap.

When we started taking the chemicals out of the house I tried to find ways to make small changes that could benefit our family. One of the changes was with our hand soap. We wash our hands all the time. Henry is OCD and washes his hands every 25 minutes...

So I decided to make my own. I had everything on hand to refill our foaming hand-soap bottles that we already had. (Look at that- re-purposing and recycling)

2 tablespoons  Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap (This is lemon scent. You can also get unscented or lavender, or any other scent that you like, I'm not your boss...)

1.5 cups water

5 drops of essential oils. (I used lemon but only because my castile was lemon...)

This is the gift that keeps on giving.
A bottle of Castile soap costs - $10-15 for 32oz.
You can make hand soap 100 times before you need to buy another bottle... (I'm not sure if that is true but by my math calculations it sounds about right...)

I use this as body soap as well on myself and the kids.

Enjoy making soap..

Weekend Review x2

I wrote down some personal goals for the new year and I forgot to start at the beginning of the year, (I've been too busy laying broken at Jesus' feet and doing laundry, and recovering from Christmas/school starting) so today starts the beginning of my personal goals, which include: blogging on regular basis- I even made a schedule, drink more water, exercise consistently, prayer journal.

Last weekend I met with my internet/brain cancer wife friend Rebecca. Rebecca is from the Chicago area and her and her family were traveling through Dallas on their way to San Antonio. Jonathan and I met them at the cracker barrel and had a wonderful time visiting face to face. I'm so thankful she was who she said she was and not a serial killer.

Henry and I attended a birthday party last Monday for his best buddy and this is the only picture I have...
 Poor Lucy- she is so tender-headed that we can barely get a brush through her hair. (My mom is laughing because she totally gets this from me) She has been growing her hair out to be like Rapunzel but we finally talked her into a hair cut.

  Tis the season for Birhtday parties. Lucy was invited to a painting party for a friends birthday! This was the cutest party. All the girls had so much fun! Frisco moms, Jenny Japp does parties and lessons for kids and she is so sweet and so good! Jenny Japp- jennyjapp1@gmail.com

I think this would make a great girls event too!

 Waiting on our girls to finish painting!

Look at those dragon flies!
 We've had family in town and a stomach bug throughout the week but we have all survived. (I'm not too sure it was a stomach bug, I think it was jumping on the couch after dinner...)

If you are still reading could you pray for our family. Jonathan had to prosponed chemo last week due to his low blood count. This past blood test showed that his blood test was barely at the limit to start chemo. We are starting chemo today or tomorrow, depending on when our medicine arrives. Could y'all pray that he stays healthy this week during treatment, that he has limited physical affects from medicines (but also that medicine is effective) and that the kids stay healthy to stay around Jonathan?

While we are praying together, will you pray for our upcoming trip to Disney- specifically that everyone stays healthy, the weather is nice, and the crowds are low... (we picked the lowest crowd week..) This is our first vacation as a family of four.

New Year, New Goal.

I sat down this morning to review my goals from last year to see how I did in accomplishing them.

1. Reclaim my house from the kids.- This is a daily battle. I feel like I took control of the downstairs but I really don't care what they do upstairs. We are working on organizing toys and donating excess.

2. Drink more water... 5 liters a day... I did not accomplish this but I did drink more water.

3. Save more. Spend less. Stop consuming this world... I'm thankful we made this a goal. We met our health insurance deductible twice this year so we didn't do much in the saving department but we didn't consume things we didn't need.

4. Love JC more than I did last year... Grow and strengthen my friendship and love for Jesus.
- Well he helped me accomplish this goal. I wouldn't be where I am spiritually if we didn't have such a rough 2015.

So my goal for this year....

To lay broken at Jesus' feet.

I want to lay in complete surrender at his feet. When I am broken, he is so close. (Jesus, I feel like I am broken enough. No need to add to my cracks... Unless you do and then I know you will get us through..) I want my daily needs to be met only through him. I want to be in total dependence morning and night with him getting me through the day. I want to look up and Jesus be the only thing I see. He is my focus.

If you need me in 2016 you know where to find me.

God is bigger than this and Jesus can fix-it.
