Weekend Review

Our weekend started off with a little sister time. Laura and I are a little addicted to estate sales/garage sales right now. I think this addiction will only get worst as the season really opens up...

When I arrived home I was greeted with a package. People are so thoughtful. Every time someone does something nice for us Jonathan looks at me and says we have really got to be nicer to people...

Friday was a busy night. Lucy had soccer practice and a birthday party. Thankfully someone delivered dinner to our house so that was one less thing to worry about! See, people are really nice to us...

Saturday, Jonathan and I had a couples massage at a spa. My favorite part was us waiting in the relaxing area. Jonathan looked at me and said, "How long do we sit here? 10 minutes, man, I should have brought my phone..." I on the other hand had no problem going into relaxing mode.

After a relaxing morning we picked up the kids and headed to soccer.

Short side story- My parents watched my kids while we had our date. They went to Panera in Frisco. After lunch they were walking out to the car and a lady backed into them. Not into their car but into my family. Thankfully my dad reacted and banged on the back windshield and yelled out (which is funny thinking about my quiet dad yelling). I was told if she didn't stop Henry would have been under the tire... After my parents got themselves and my kids out of the way, the lady drove off...  This was a mom with a child in the car and she drove off.. without checking on anyone. Let's use this as a lesson to slow down... use your backup cameras... and if you hit a person, a quick rolling down of the window and apology would be appropriate.

Rant over...

After my family almost died we went on with life and watched Lucy play soccer.

We ended Saturday at a card playing tournament with a group of people who we are thinking about going on a card playing tour with this summer. Don't worry it's a Christian league.

Sunday
Church, lunch, nap and laundry.

Weekly Happenings

It's been a good week. We are back in our routine. Jonathan is feeling good. I don't want to kill anyone anymore. The kids are getting more mom and dad time which makes their behavior better. So everything is back to normal.

Monday, I attended my favorite gym class.
Tuesday night was our inaugural recipe exchange and it was so much fun!
I made cheap dates for my appetizers. I don't think that's really what they are called but they are my favorite appetizer from my favorite restaurant in Bentonville, Ar called Table Mesa. They call them cheap dates and so do I. It's a date stuffed with cheese wrapped in bacon...

I forgot to take a final picture so here they are cold a day later. I think they are just as good cold. Recipe coming soon.

Getting ready for the exchange. I think we had 20 dishes to try. We gave everyone a number and then we voted on our favorite!

The big winner of the night was Holly who made Classy grapes. They were delicious. I'll ask if I can share the recipe!
The other big winners of the night- Megan, and Pam took home second and third place.

Wednesday, Henry and I went to bible study and then had lunch with the sisters. He lost his mind at the mall where we were lunching so we came home for a nap in my bed. I meant to fold laundry while he slept but I took a nap with him instead.
Which was a bummer because I still had to fold all these clothes...

The kids are still loving swim lessons!

Look at smarty pants last spelling test.
We ended our night like this...
The spanking spoon was for Henry not for missed words... The wine was for me.

I decided today that Lucy dresses way better than me. I'd wear this outfit..
And how sweet does Hen look in these red jeans!!
That's it. That's all I know.

Yoke in Hand.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

This verse always reminds me that I am not walking alone.
Here is our yoke.
Jesus and me walking together.
The load is lighter with Jesus.
But here's the thing...
It's been 10 months.
10 months of us walking together.
My load is getting heavier.
A load I continually hand over.
And I'm tired.

You can now imagine me with this yoke smashing it again and again against the ground. I want to be done. I've had a hissy fit. I've had a pity party. Jesus stands waiting, yoke in hand. "Get up, I've got this."

I've laid in that spot for a week.
Silent.
The quieter I've been the more present he has been.
Just waiting.
Holding that yoke.
Waiting for me to get back up.

I got up this morning.
He handed me our yoke.
I put it on.
"K, JC. I'll walk with you but the load is on you, I can't do it..."

I gave him my burden and He gave me rest.

God is bigger than this and Jesus can fix-it.

Weekend Review: The show must go on.

While dealing with all the stages of cancer grief, I have to remember that life goes on and I have to keep up. You know that Reba song, "for my broken heart"? " I guess the world didn't stop for my broken heart... It doesn't stop, I think it spins a little faster. So, with that said... Jonathan did his 7th chemo treatment and My little people and I have been trying to act normal.

Both kids are excelling at swim lessons. They call the parents in the last 5 minutes of class to show up what the kids have been working on. First up- Henry- the instructor took him, placed him in the water, let go and the kid swam three strokes and came up for air and went down for more before she grabbed him again.. I was shocked and impressed!

Lucy can swim but I wanted her to learn technique. She showed off her moves and I told her what a great job she was doing. She replied with, " I know mom, I told you I could swim and didn't need lessons." (Well sassy mouth I'm going to sign you up for more if you don't watch it.)

Last week I worked the Rhea Lana checkin. The great part about doing this is you get to see everything that comes in and you get to talk to all kinds of people and all my friends come in.
Example A...
 Speaking of Rhealana...
Here are my treasures.
These are for me

Lunch with my sisters and mama after bible study.

Thursday Henry went home with the Cobles for some Aunt Laura time.
Friday we had soccer practice and Lucy alone time which we spent watching a movie- Lucy's love language is quality time and she was overdue.

Saturday Lucy and I went to the church to help pack meals for Feed My Starving Children. Our church had the goal of packing 1 million meals and feeding 2500 children for a whole year. They exceeded this goal and packed over 1 million meals and were able to feed almost 3000 children.

After we packed we headed to Lucy's soccer game.

My sweet girl has come a long way in soccer. She is starting to be aggressive and really goes after the ball and she can play offensive equally as well as defense. She even scored a goal!

Saturday night we took Lucy to Aunt Laura's house to spend the night and picked up Chuy's for dinner.
Sunday afternoon we got the kids back and we ended the day with family movie night.

Good weekend had by all. Jonathan is feeling well this morning and recovering nicely from all the chemo. 17 more rounds to go...
