Kingdom Prayers

Kingdom prayers

Since hearing about kingdom prayers my prayer life has changed drastically. Gone are the days that I pray for comfort for my friends, family or even myself. I’m praying prayers with a heavenly agenda. Prayers that build God’s kingdom and build the characteristics of God into his followers.

Paul never prayed that God would break him out of jail, instead, he sat and wrote encouraging letters to believers across the globe, “Don’t give up the faith”, “be strong”, “go out and spread the word”!
I can imagine Jesus sitting in that jail cell with him drafting the letters in Paul’s heart (and maybe checking spelling, I bet he was a master speller…) because that is when Jesus shows up. He shows up in your dark moments.

What are we doing in those dark moments with Jesus?

I’ve been at his feet begging him to please take this away. I’m done. I’m tired. Pick on someone your own size… There might have even been a pity party and get out of my face involved.

And he hasn’t taken this away. He hasn’t left my side. He hasn’t gotten out of my face… But he has aligned my heart with his. (He’s tricky that way…)

Jonathan and I have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Jesus through the trial and hell that we are living through. He shows up in the messy. He loves to cool the heat of earthly hell with his heavenly glory. And he wants us to take comfort in his shade.

Jonathan started chemo last night. Round #20. I’ve prayed for 19 months for God to take away his nausea and his aches and just let Jonathan breeze through a round. And it hasn’t happened.  It’s been disappointing and heartbreaking to watch my strong husband, the leader of the family be taken down by something as small as a pill…

For the past month, I’ve aligned my heart with his. I’m focused on what I can do with our hell to bring Glory to him and to build his kingdom.

My prayer for this week is that we would look past the aches, pains, nausea, disappointment, heartache, discomfort and focus on Jesus. We have the opportunity to spend a lot of close time clinging to him. I want my time with him not to be focused on bringing us comfort but how he wants us to build his kingdom and glorify God.

God is bigger than this and Jesus Can fix-it.

Friday Favorites: Soccer, Cooking, Back to school

My favorites of the week!

|one| Cooking
I have been cooking up a storm lately and I've enjoyed doing it! I don't love to cook because I don't love to clean up the mess. I also hate when I spend a lot of time on something for my kids to look at it and say, "Eww, disgusting..." They have learned to eat what's in front of them... And I've learned to keep it Simple.

I cooked 4 times this week already!

My best tool for cooking is menu planning... It takes time and effort but once I have a menu and groceries, it's just a matter of doing it.

Yesterday Henry and I made a sausage cheese pie for my adult fellowship recipe exchange!

(Henry was upset because I wouldn't let him eat it but if you look closely at the second picture you can see that we pinched off a piece)

Also, my kids love to be in the kitchen and they love to help. I've found that they eat what they make!

I made a baked ziti yesterday while Lucy did her homework.
I have two new muffin and snack recipes to try out this weekend!

|two| Soccer
I've loved watching Henry play soccer. He loves being on a team and 4-5 year old boys are too cute! Also, I knew Henry was tall but didn't realize just how tall he is....

|three| Journey Girls Recipe Exchange
Last night we had our 2nd annual recipe exchange. We had more fun eating, visiting and then judging each other's cooking ability... Just kidding, everyone brought their A+ game!

Love these girls!

|four| Face Wash
I can already tell a differenince in my skin... And I've used it for 2 days. I took my before picture, maybe I will share results after a few weeks! I'm really excited about the lash boost, I've seen great results from Julie and can't wait to have the same eyelash results!

|five| Back to school

I've found some great deals on amazon this week for back to school. I know it's just February but this under armour backpack is half off at $21 and these water bottles are 5.50 each. Both of my babies will be at school next year and I'm going to be ready!!

Those are my favorites for this week!

God is bigger than this and Jesus Can fix it.

Weekly Happenings: What Wesley's Eaten...

Well, we haven't done anything this week besides homework and bedtime... We did make muffins on Monday...

Instead of sharing what we have done, I'm going to share what Wesley has eaten this week...

He stole the bag of homemade rice crispy treats and was carrying them around like a little lunch sack.

He stole my glasses. I'm a fool for buying designer glasses, next time I'm ordering $10 glasses...

He stole Jonathan's Samsung fit watch.

He stole my Samsung fit watch off the charger...

He stole my electric toothbrush and ate the head off of it...

He stole Henry's toothbrush and ate its head...

He stole Henry's burrito off his plate...

He stole and destroyed Lucy's beanie boo...

He stole and chewed Lucy's shopkins...

I also caught him laying on my bed like it was his bed.

This dog is in need of some major training. One day I'm going to have time for that. Right now he is puppy bad...

He beats up on Henry. Sure, Henry likes to wrestle with him and they run each other's energy level down but one of them is always crying... Henry bit his ear the other day after Wesley bit Henry's ear...

Maybe Henry needs some training too...

God is bigger than this and Jesus Can fix it.

What's up Wednesday

I'm linking up this week to a couple of blogs for What's up Wednsday!

What we are eating this week
I posted our menu plan on Monday! You can check it out or you can trust that we are having a roast, tacos, baked ziti and breakfast casserole.

Lucy and I also spent some time in the kitchen making homemade chocolate chip muffins.

What I’m reminiscing about

Speaking of Lucy,  Time Hop and Facebook Memories are killing me. How do I almost have a 9-year-old? My baby is about to go to kindergarten! How did that happen?

What I’m loving
The warmer weather. I’m praying winter is over! I even pulled out my sunless tanner in hopes of leg season!

What we’ve been up to
Kid’s activities- Lucy has soccer and volleyball and Henry has soccer. Right now all we do is homework and soccer.
I’ve been working on our adult fellowship breakfast recipe exchange book. I’m excited about our 2nd annual recipe exchange this Thursday!

What I’m dreading
Next week is Jonathan’s 20th Chemo Week. Which is exciting because there is only 24 and only 5 (including this one) left but it is a hard week on all of us.

What I’m working on
I’ve been looking for silent auction basket donations for the Frisco Family Services Gala that is coming up next month! If you are local to Frisco and you sell something let me know if you would like to donate an item. This is FFS’s biggest fundraiser of the season and all proceeds go to feeding and assisting children and families in our town.
I’m also working on gathering up all of my tax documents so I can start that process. Which isn’t really a process it’s just sitting down and doing it.

What I’m excited about
I found some great deals this week…

1.      1. This under armour backpack is less than half its original price. I think I’m going to get it for Henry’s Kindergarten backpack.

2.       2. I’ve just discovered ebates… Basically, you shop from their website onto your favorite store's sites and then purchase and receive a cashback. I’ve already made $20. If you sign up here you can get a $10 credit. Also, how come no one told me about this before? It’s been around for years. I love that I can get anywhere from 1-10% back on my online purchases.

3.       3. My friend Julie just became a Rodan and Fields consultant and I got to be her first customer. Right now they are running a special to get 30% off a regimen and lash boost. I’m starting tonight. One of the things that sold me on this product is that Julie has amazing skin, she's had great results.

e     Her site- juliechuffman@myrandf.com email her- jcb_lily@hotmail.com

What I’m watching/reading
Dragons love Tacos - This is Henry's favorite

Romans Ch. 9

We are in between shows, we just finished the OA and now our in between show is west wing… I started watching parenthood and am 8 episodes in and it has taken that long for me to like it, it’s also taken 2 years for me to get that far but now it’s my laundry folding show.

What I’m listening to
What does this even mean? I’m listening to my kids…

What I’m wearing

1.     1.  I bought the Kate Middleton engagement dress on Thredup this week.
I     I had a coupon for $20 off (code- 20forpun). I have a couple of places I need to wear a dress to… but honestly, 30% of it was I just wanted to be like Kate… because she is classy and stylish and her hair is perfect…

(I’ve been on my spending freeze but I had to get a dress anyway, also, if you are new to thredup you can get 40% off of your first purchase. If you sign up here you can get a $10 credit! I’ve found so many great deals that I don’t even go into real stores anymore.)

2.       2. When I'm not dressing like Kate I'm wearing my sweatpants. (Only at home...) My under armour sweat pants are getting a lot of play this week. I've had the same pair of UA pants for 4 years and they still look brand new. Also, the waistband comes up over the belly button which is an important feature when talking sweatpants.

3.      3.  I told you it’s warm so I’ve pulled out my white jeans- You can wear white anytime you want. That rule is not biblical and Jesus is my boss…

What I’m doing this weekend
Saturday- We have soccer games this weekend and church. We are homebodies especially the weekend before chemo. We are going to have family movie night and eat popcorn.
Sunday- Church and Fellowship

What I’m looking forward to next month
Next month we have Spring Break! We are taking a tiny trip at the end of our week off, more to come on this! (I hate when people do that- We are going to the circus… Because it’s the last year for the Barnabus Bailey circus. We are flying to Cincinnati for the weekend with my parents and sister. This was all G-daddy’s idea, except he just wanted to take all 6 grandkids with him and my mom. My mom told him that was crazy and they were too old for that so the parents were invited too!
What’s there to do in Cincinnati? Suggestions, please!

What else is new
That’s all I’ve got…

Bonus: What is your “can’t live without” beauty product?

I like makeup… I like to be able to see my makeup too… If I had to pick one item- a great moisturizer. I use a tinted moisturizer in place of foundation and I love that it isn’t thick, has spf and holds up all day!

Thank you for stopping by.  Tomorrow is Weekly Happenings where I catch you up on our week in pictures... The grandparents like this...

Weekend Review + Weekly Planning

Wednesday we had the greatest bible study! We focused on kingdom prayers. Life changing and changed my prayer life drastically. More on this in detail later.

Friday I had to grocery shop. I drove across town to try out the new ALDI and it was worth the drive! I do 80% of my shopping at Aldi, 10% at Costco, 7% at Amazon and that last 3% at Walmart. If I didn't need quilted northern toilet paper I wouldn't have to shop at Walmart. As someone who is from BENTONVILLE, AR and grew up a WAL-MARTIAN that is a big statement.

I met my college roommate at the local Torchy's and we picked up where we left off last time we met. It's rare to have a friend that 1. get's you. 2. knows and loves you. 3. You just pick up with and act like no time has passed since the last time you talked! I love Cristy and am so thankful that she works so close and we can do this more often!

Friday night we had volleyball and Henry and friends played under the bleachers.

Saturday, we served at the Feed My Starving Children event that our church sponsors. I love being able to serve for an amazing cause with my family. Lucy loved, loved, loved serving! They play lots of music while we work at one point Lucy looked at me and Ms. Morgan and said, "Mom, Less Dancing, More working." I loved seeing her focused on a job.

After FMSC, We ran to soccer pictures and Soccer games. Both kids had pictures and games at the same time, Thankfully they were at the same place.

Saturday, we finished the day with family movie night and we tried out our new popcorn popper that I received from a friend! We love popcorn! The kids had too much fun watching the kernals pop!

Sunday we attended church, Sunday school and finished the day with a nap, dinner, and bed!

The kids are off of school today and we are thankful for a day of rest/play.

Friday Favorites.

1. The Tinkle
Oh, Girls! You will not regret this little jewel! The Tinkle is an eyebrow razor or even a facial razor. It works better than plucking and is quick and easy to use. A friend introduced this to me and I'm going to start ordering them in bulk- I've even used it on my fingers/toes (Don't act like you don't shave your toes...) and even when I've missed a hair on my knees! Whenever there is a hair out of place I pull out the tinkle and just do a quick shave off. Why not use a razor? You can do this dry, you don't need water or shaving cream and I haven't gotten razor burn...

2. 2 Bros Bows

Both of my kids received a 2 Bros Bow for Christmas! They have loved it so much. It's easy to use and with the soft front arrow they don't mess up my house when shooting inside. I even took this to school for our Valentine Party game! It's a crowd pleaser for the 4 and up crowd!

3. Rhea Lana Shopping/ Consigning

Our local Rhea Lana sale is going on right now. Today starts the half price sale and continues until Saturday! This is my favorite sale to shop because I can find great brands and boutique clothes for both of my kids that don't break the bank. It's also a great place to buy books and toys. I wish I would have known about Rhea Lana when I was first starting out with kids, I thought everything had to be bought new and we were living on love at the time and didn't have a lot of money for baby things. I regret not putting more ruffles and bows on Lucy when she had no choice in what she wore!

Next Rhea Lana point... I sell all of my kid's boutique and gently used clothes here. It's a great way to get rid of things and make a little money in the process and by a little money I've made $250 so far and I really didn't have any high price items!

4. Summer Camps

It's that time of year to start looking at all the summer activities to keep our kids busy. I don't like to over schedule our summer but I do like for my kids to have some planned activities so they don't get used to telling me they are bored or watching tv...

5. The Thermos Container

This thermos has changed my lunch making game! If you've been reading you know that I am trying to save money and one area to cut back on is the food category. Let's start with school lunches- I was spending at least $50 a month on Lucy's lunch, some days she was coming home and saying she had to get seconds because she was still hungry- two meals a day at $2.50 each is is 100 dollars a month... That's insane. So, I started packing her lunch with filling foods. Every day she gets a sandwich or wrap, a pasta (noodles or organic mac n cheese), fruit or fruit and yogurt, pretzels, veggie- (carrots and hummus, broccoli and ranch), a drink and a dessert (muffin, cookie, something homemade). She is getting a lot of food and I'm spending less than $2 a lunch.

The point of this story was that with the thermos the hot pasta and mac n cheese stays hot in the Thermos Container. I usually put hot water in the container and let it sit for 5 minutes while I prepare the rest of the meal. Then dump the water out and fill it with hot items and they stay hot until lunch time. I've also shoved leftover steak into the container and it has stayed warm. But that's not all, it keeps things cold, I feel safe sending her with yogurt or cottage cheese and not worrying about it spoiling!

That's it. Those are all my favorites!

God is bigger than this and Jesus Can Fix it.

Be My Valentine!

Valentine Party. I was in charge of the valentine party for Henry's class. The good thing about planning this party was that two friends were also doing their kids parties and we shared ideas and even supplies!

I made a simple photo backdrop with clearance polka dot Christmas paper and an old picture frame. The kids and I painted a bunch a hearts and we used them throughout the classroom to decorate.

Our craft were handprint hearts and we decorated bags.
The kids ate a snack of red velvet cookies and red Gatorade.

I took a picture of all the kids for their parents. I love this sweet little face!

We finished the party with a game of shoot the heart bullseye with Lucy's pink bow and arrow. I just put a heart bullseye on my photo backdrop and we took turns shooting it.

(This bow was a Christmas gift and my kids have had too much fun! It is easy to shoot and has a padded arrow so it doesn't dent the walls (when they miss) and doesn't hurt when they shoot each other.... because I don't believe in supervising my kid's free play....)

My favorite part of the party was when I declared it bow and arrow time and all the kids rushed me to go first. I took this as an opportunity to teach a life lesson- LADIES FIRST! Which the girls loved and the boys protested but allowed the girls to go first and then lined up behind them!  My pictures are limited because I was running the show. 12 kids is a lot to handle. God bless the teachers!!

Now Look at one of my friend's party...
Isn't that beautiful!

Our Home Valentine Party. We celebrated with a romantic dinner of Steak, potatoes, salad and oranges. There's nothing sexier than Vitamin C...

My sister and I split half a cow and I've loved going to the freezer every time I needed meat. This steak was as big as Henry and I defrosted 2, we will be having leftovers!

We went around the table and said what we loved about each other and Lucy said she loved me because I wake her up in the morning and Henry said he loves me because I make him the best bean burritos... I am LOVED.

I hope your day was full of love. We don't glamorize valentine's day because every day is a day of love for us :).

Tomorrow is Weekly Happenings on the blog and I will catch up on our Great Wolf Lodge skip day and the rest of our weekend/ week!

God is bigger than this and Jesus Can fix it.

We love because he first loved us.
